About Lori

Restorative Justice Consultant

Lori DeCarlo is a passionate advocate for the implementation of Restorative Justice Practices in schools. As President of Restorative Justice Education – NY, LLC, she serves as a conference speaker, consultant and trainer on the topic of Transforming Schools through Restorative Practices.

As a member of the National Training Team for the University of San Diego, Center for Restorative Justice, she trains K-12 educational leaders to acquire both the “heart set” and “skill set” needed to create school cultures that are restorative and healing.

As the former Superintendent at Randolph Academy UFSD, Ms. DeCarlo possesses nearly two decades of experience as a school administrator. Under Ms. DeCarlo’s leadership, the Randolph Academy has implemented a multi-tiered system of restorative practices, including school wide Level 1 Community Building Circles, and Level 2 & 3 Restorative Conferences to resolve conflict and repair harm. Ms. DeCarlo worked with the Academy’s Board of Education to ensure that Restorative Practices are embedded into policy and the District’s Code of Conduct.

As a certified Restorative Justice trainer, she has studied under internationally renowned experts in the field and has served as a practitioner/co-facilitator for the New York State Education Department & New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services project, “Using Restorative Justice Principles and Practices to Support a Culture of Care in New York State Schools” during the summers of 2018 & 2019.

DeCarlo was honored for her work implementing Restorative Justice in schools by being named “Woman of Influence” in 2020 by Buffalo Business First.

Her other leadership roles include serving as Co-Chair for the Western New York Regional Youth Justice Team, and as a Board Member for the Justice Center for Children and Families in Olean, NY.

Ms. DeCarlo presents on the topic of Restorative Justice at state, regional and local conferences. She is a contributing author to The Big Book of Engagement Strategies (H. Lyon, 2021.)

She also practices the art of “circle keeping” by facilitating circles for organizations and churches in her hometown.
